The online learning materials produced by eLanguages are developed in the form of reusable learning objects (RLOs) and combine multi-media assets with an activity-based approach to learning. RLOs are the 'building blocks' for online courses and resource sets (toolkits). Key features of the pedagogic design of the LOs are that:
- they are activity-led
- they combine different media
- the activities encourage reflection and 'learning by doing'
- several activities build on each other
- feedback (examples, answers, explanations, review) supports students' learning
- they aim to accommodate different ways of using and learning
