MA in English Language Teaching: Online

The MA in English Language Teaching: Online is an innovative Masters degree programme. It involves part-time study over five semesters (two and a half years including a dissertation) by distance learning entirely online. The programme has been specially developed by Modern Languages and Linguistics the University of Southampton in collaboration with the British Council. It delivers postgraduate-level study in a number of important areas of current theory and practice in applied linguistics and language teaching, and provides a focussed route for English language teaching professionals who wish to develop advanced knowledge and skills in English language curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.

Practising teachers are given the opportunity to reflect on professional experience and update their theoretical and pedagogical knowledge in a flexible and well-supported learning environment.

The online programme was designed and developed by the eLanguages team in collaboration with module leaders on our well-established face-to-face Masters degree programme.
